Our next HALUG meeting will be Tuesday December 3, 2002.
Hope you can make time to attend!
Every year we ask the people that are interested in hearing about
these common topics for two things, one is the hardest to get by far is
volunteers to give a talk, and the second is to ask if you know of any meeting
facility that will be appropriate to these meetings (30 to 100 people depending
on topic). By having these meetings at a common place each month, we know that
we are excluding many people that cannot find the time to travel to the
meeting. If you can help us find another meeting place around Houston, we would
be very interested. Please let any of the people on the steering committee
know if you can assist us on either item.
Come join us for lunch and a presentation/live demo by Doug McGuire on
Landmark's recent release of R2003 on Linux.
Please RSVP - send email to taomarketing at lgc.com ASAP if you plan to eat!

lunch and for each attendee, name, company name, title, & email address.
Abstract:
Landmark's decision to adopt the Linux operating system for virtually all of
our applications was driven by the superior price-to-performance ratio that
is afforded by PC Intel processors. Benchmark testing versus even high-end
Unix machines demonstrates a 4-20x improvement in performance in the Linux
environment, which can substantially reduce cycle time in virtually all
exploration and production work flows. Some of the results of this benchmark
testing will be presented, followed by a live integration demo performed on
an entry-level Linux laptop.
The workflow covered during the demo shows the value of integrated
interpretation in a field development scenario and steps through an
integrated field study from well log analysis, seismic attribute analysis,
infill drilling, and 3-D visualization. This integration workflow includes
StratWorks, SeisWorks, Rave, PetroWorks, Wellbore Planner, and OpenVision -
all using R2003 Linux!
