Abstract: You may have heard of Landmark's new single application for G&G and Earth Modeling, but have you seen it? The new DecisionSpace(r) Desktop is already used for Earth Modeling, and in just a few months will add Geological and Geophysical workflow support to this unified workspace. In this demonstration, see traditional geological cross section and map-making workflows executed inside the context of multi-dimensional views within the DecisionSpace(r) Desktop. And apply advanced geo-modeling technologies to construct highly accurate multi-surface structural frameworks that honor all of your data from seismic horizons, well tops and grids. Property mapping is also performed in the full structural framework to ensure consistency between surfaces, faults and interval 'fill'. Edits to well tops or seismic horizon data affect immediate dynamic updates to all dependent surfaces. Specific points shown in this software demonstration are: 1) log correlation and dynamic surface updating in 3D 2) construction of high-resolution frameworks from 3D seismic and well tops 3) construction of multiple-interval property maps in a heavily faulted, siliciclastic depositional system This resulting structural framework can then be morphed into a complete geocellular model by using Landmark's DecisionSpace(r) Desktop Earth Modeling suite for reservoir characterization. So please plan on coming to Landmark's CityWest office to see all of these new capabilities accessed within a single application, the new DecisionSpace(r) Desktop! *********************************************************************************************************** We would like to express our appreciation to Landmark for providing the meeting room and the food. Abstract: This presentation is fresh from the 2010 AAPG Convention in New Orleans! As a Geoscientist, you carry the responsibility of defining subsurface drilling targets. And in today's Shale Gas Plays, current workflows require you to spend days or weeks to define a large number of heel and toe targets for the horizontal wells that are to be drilled. Picking well tops and interpreting seismic surfaces to describe your shale reservoir is the easiest part of your job; but feeding the "Rig Monster" is what keeps you up at night. Landmark is now able to unveil new patent-pending technology that not only automates the creation of optimized horizontal well targets in shale reservoirs, but also finds the best surface locations to avoid cultural obstacles and places the pads to drill to those targets. Over the last year, this game-changing technology has been successfully applied to Shale Gas Plays in both the U.S. and Canada, demonstrating extreme accuracy while drastically reducing project planning times from months to weeks. This live demonstration will specifically show: 1) How to visualize surface and subsurface information that affects drilling 2) How to automatically define horizontal well targets and create horizontal well "stubs" that maximize exposure to the shale reservoir in your leasehold 3) How to optimize surface pad locations while taking into account topography and cultural hazards This dramatic decrease in cycletime now allows you to create and evaluate multiple well planning scenarios so that you can make the best decisions affecting your particular Asset. Please come and see how Landmark can let you sleep easier by automatically planning your next one hundred, or one thousand, horizontal Shale Gas wells. *********************************************************************************************************** We would like to express our appreciation to Landmark for providing the meeting room and the food. Abstract: Landmark's DecisionSpace Desktop supports upstream Oil & Gas workflows, but did you know that it also displays microseismic events from fracture stimulation treatments? Fully implemented on top of the industry-standard OpenWorks database, this unified workspace is already used in Earth Modeling and G&G workflows with further integrated capabilities being added. By using near real-time display of the microseismic events associated with fractures caused by stimulation, you can see the height, width, and length of these fractures to better calculate the stimulated volume in your reservoir. This enables you to better predict well production, while learning what stimulation treatment parameters work best for your reservoir in that locale. And with the live feed of information from the field, you now have the ability to intervene and control the stimulation treatment for maximum effect in both vertical and horizontal wellbores. In this demonstration you will see how to: 1) Visualize microseismic events in 3D, map and cross-section views 2) Color microseismic events by Frac Stage 3) View stimulation pumping pressures in synchronization with the onset of microseismic events 4) Replay microseismic and Frac Stage events in a movie format 5) Calculate and display Stimulated Reservoir Volumes in all views So please plan to come and see how all of these new capabilities can be accessed within a single application, Landmark's new DecisionSpace(r) Desktop. *********************************************************************************************************** We would like to express our appreciation to Landmark for providing the meeting room and the food. Abstract: Many Landmark users are now working in the R5000 environment on a daily basis. Geoscientists appreciate the innovations and advanced workflow support available in the latest R5000 versions of the software, but this is only part of the benefits. One of the largest advantages in R5000 is the ability to drastically reduce the number of OpenWorks projects such that you only load a well or seismic dataset once, no matter how many interpretation projects or geoscientists are using that data! This presentation reveals the lessons learned from successfully completed consolidations. Using an example dataset with well and seismic data duplications, you will see how to easily and efficiently merge OpenWorks projects within the R5000 environment. There are four distinct phases to project consolidation: 1) Data Reconnaissance of the existing OpenWorks Projects 2) Data Reconciliation between the OpenWorks Projects 3) Data Transfer to the Regional OpenWorks Project 4) Data QC of the Regional OpenWorks Project The first step in project consolidation is Data Reconnaissance. This demonstration focuses on using new features in Project Administrator and Power Explorer. Now you can quickly and easily identify duplicate well and seismic data types across multiple OpenWorks projects with varying Cartographic Reference Systems. By utilizing these best practices your project consolidation will move more quickly and smoothly. So, please plan on attending this important presentation and see how you can take advantage of the new data management efficiencies in R5000 at your office. After the first time you load your well data and seismic files into your database, you will never have to load them again! *********************************************************************************************************** To view this HALUG Meeting remotely via MeetingPlace on your computer, and to use your telephone for the audio portion of the presentation, here are the instructions: Date/Time: OCT 12, 2010 at 11:30 AM America/Chicago (Remote presentation starts at about 11:45am) Meeting ID: 1492 Meeting Password: (None) Phone Number to hear the presentation: (281) 871-4999, & follow the prompts To attend the Web Conference: 1. Abstracts: Presenter: David Lemke Understanding how datums are used in the R5000 environment: Onshore projects typically are not hung from sea level. R5000 has expanded capabilities to honor datums, and the associated shifts, so that your various geological and geophysical data tie together seamlessly. This presentation explains how datums are handled differently from Landmark's previous R2003 version. It will also touch upon the importance of identifying time versus depth data. You will see how the various datum parameters affect the placement of your interpreted information relative to well logs and seismic traces. Presenter: Jeremy Eade The importance of original coordinates for spatial data-types in OpenWorks R5000: Spatial data in OpenWorks have two coordinates: "original coordinates" - which are the coordinates defined from the source data loaded to OpenWorks and "project coordinates" - which are used for user's work in the project. In R5000 there is an increased importance on the accuracy of original coordinates for spatial data. When OpenWorks data are read into the Interpretation Project, an "on-the-fly" conversion is made from original coordinates to the user's preferred working Cartographic Reference System. You will see the steps that you need to take in order to reconcile any discrepancies between original and project coordinates when you upgrade your OpenWorks data to R5000. Abstract: RoQC data management tools are focused on enforcing project data standards within your business in both the R2003 and R5000 releases. This includes the ability to "clean" and standardize OpenWorks project data through the identification and reconciliation of duplicate and non-standard data. Once completed, these Projects can be easily maintained on an ongoing basis. Key features within these tools enable you to: * Quickly audit and analyze project data * Perform data cleanup activities with minimal effort * Define and implement reference data standards * Easily compare project data between different projects * Standardize CRS definitions * Seamlessly integrate data cleanup workflows with existing Landmark tools Whether you are cleaning up R2003 projects prior to moving to R5000, or if you have already moved to R5000, this presentation demonstrates how RoQC quickly addresses the common data management tasks listed above. You will have the option to watch Paul's presentation remotely at your office through MeetingPlace, or you can have your lunch provided at Landmark's office at CityWest and watch the presentation there. It's your choice! *********************************************************************************************************** To view this HALUG Meeting remotely via MeetingPlace on your computer, and to use your telephone for the audio portion of the presentation, here are the instructions: Date/Time: DECEMBER 14, 2010 at 11:30 AM America/Chicago (Remote presentation starts at about 11:45am) Meeting ID: 1492 Meeting Password: (None) Phone Number to hear the presentation: (281) 871-4999, & follow the prompts To attend the Web Conference: 1.
